Social Media Therapy Part 1

We do a mental comparison and define who we are based on if we have someone else's colour of red lipstick or pair of shoes and if we do not then we become utterly useless.
There is so much harm caused by putting our nose down into our phones and I think it is high-time we stop ignoring it.

SocialMedia Therapy Poem

THIS IS SOMETHING WE ALL NEED, EVEN I,

Eyeballs away from the screen into undiluted light,

Waiting to pierce through my soul to show me the path.

But blocked out by images of all those I follow on Instagram and Facebook, disrupting this light,

Light waiting to fall on the shadows of my questions, Who am I? Where am I? Whose am I?

But the light is blocked out because all it sees is the reflection of the dress of that chic, the muscle of that bloke, the cute picture of that couple and the color of the red lipstick she has on.

Every second I look down into my phone, my heart starts beating faster,

My hands fondling through my feeds, migrating from the picture to the likers, do I know them, what are the up to? Oh wow she looks so perfect, oh wow, I wish my business was just like hers, wow I wish my life was hers!

I step out to the loo and as I take my phone along, another picture is uploaded and I defecate in misery.

The light still hanging around the gates of my eyes, waiting to enter in, if only I could look up and stay up.

If only I could look up, and get to work,
If only I could look up, and talk to my neighbor,

If only I could look up, and put my ideas down,

If only I could look up and stop my mental comparison,

If only I could look up and appreciate my own,

If only I could look up and drop that phone,

Just maybe I would be the one on people’s feeds,

Just maybe I would be the one making the impact

Just maybe I would be the one distributing light,

Just maybe I would be the one hanging around superstars.

Just maybe I would be the one on the cover of global fliers,

Just maybe I would be the one on that stage, speaking life

If I could drop my phone and look up,

Just maybe,

I might stay up.

Why so clueless?!

Once upon a time, everyone was utterly clueless.

When i say utterly, i mean *blank stare*, but now we have the experts, specialists, etc

And you begin to compare yourself, asking questions like how can you even get started?


Is your idea so huge that you begin to choke until you leave it all behind?

What and Who we consider huge as of today, was once non-existent!

The mystery of Time

Masters are not masters because they take a subject to a conceptual end, they are masters because they realize there isn't one.
Be a master of time and know that truly, one second gone cannot be regained. Use your time wisely and let it not use you foolishly.

Doing Unto Others!

Everyone is different and yes we might have different things that tick us off or on; but truly and deeply, if we did unto others what we expect or what we appreciate others to do unto us, we will notice the difference not just in us but also in others!

Facing your oppositions!

There will always be oppositions in life, that is what life is about! What life is not about is you letting your oppositions knock life out of you. GET UP! FACE IT! KEEP MOVING! And if it knocks you down, great! GET UP AND KEEP MOVING!

CONFIDENCE!

Now, what do i mean by this?

Confidence is like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it gets. The mistake we so easily make is we think confidence is wearing the best dress off the stores with the best brands of makeup and some high heels or otherwise! No! you can still be a well dressed person with a bucket of self inferiority permeating through your perfume!

Confidence is more in what you as the carrier do not see but what we the On-lookers actually see because it starts from YOUR MIND but everything about you SCREAMS IT!


The mind might be the hub of thoughts on whether you believe in yourself or not but it has the invisible power of speaking to us about you more than your attire!
