Ladies, when
dating don't place expectations on your man that only God can satisfy. The dude
isn't your identity, Jesus is.
The above was
written by one of my many ‘young mentors’, and when I read it I smiled.
A lot of people
know the above but we don’t live the above. Let us take it away from the
concept of dating, what about work, clothes, friends and the many thing we seek
to satisfy us. Adam Smith must have had a revelation when he said the wants of
men are infinite (paraphrasing).
Wearing makeup
makes us pretty and keeps our shoulders high for a bit, but we can’t wear
makeup every second of your life.
Wearing the
prettiest dresses with really cool shoes makes us stand out, but our view of
life does not wear any of those.
Our friends keep
us occupied and we are so happy we have a network, but what happens when life
happens to them?
It was not a
mistake God created man; it is so that we remember that truly without Him we
are not complete. Man would fail you, things would wear out with time, God can
never fail you and God is the owner of time.
It is better to trust
in Jehovah than to put confidence in man- Ps 118 vs 8
I have learnt that
the reason why we talk to our friends more when we have any issues or chat up,
is because we see them more or feel they are closer while really, God has
always been by our side, it is just that we don’t talk to Him.
That emptiness we
feel and we put the pressure on ‘men’, ‘women’ or ‘things’ to fill us, will
simply drain us the more, because they also need filling up.
Decide who your
source is and you will not run out of resource.- S.S.O
