My inability to stay away....

My hands have been itching to write something; almost like I’m addicted but am glad I know what the addiction is for and I’m exercising the cure as you read…and I write.

One of my favorite writers (Okechukwu Ofili) wrote once and I read, ‘even if you do not feel like writing, just write something and even if you think no one is reading, keep writing’. That is very relatable to our every day life I must say. Even if you think you cannot see the buds yet, keep watering, it is in there somewhere and the bees and lovely insects might stay away from your garden because it has nothing to show or feed them, they will be soon come around, if you keep watering.

So the job, it is almost like what you do is not enough, like your manager needs you to literally bleed before he can crack a smile on his face?! Keep doing what you do best; working to your best, it’s all a matter of time.
Life and its sections, work with this simple philosophy. Keep sowing because you will keep reaping.

So as I started off by saying, I have been itching to write and here I am.
I have been away or rather am still away, on holiday and I want to believe this does not fall into the ‘work’ category because my fiancé might ask me to explain why I am working instead of watching some movies or sleeping, but I am glad that writing is one of the many things we have in common, so I am forgiven!

Talking about holidays, I have been exposed to some amazing things in America I must say!  Just to give you a tip of the intricately deep iceberg, I never knew that this much space on roads, cars, houses, and lanes existed in the world. I know how many times I have also wondered why the customer service assistant is smiling too much, also why the lane going forward has another lane in it, leading vehicles to cut in front of us (something weird like that), also why in my twenty- something years I never knew ‘Dodge’ cars existed.
I have been trying to analyze the tip- giving culture, now this is a very interesting culture, because from where I left two weeks ago, I am not sure I can ever imagine anyone giving tips after a meal..(I have tried to imagine, but I see people holding on tightly to their purses and expecting you to understand your service to them is paid for by your employer);  I have also wondered why the tax rates are much lower compared to UK! I also was amazed as to the way basketball is a game loved by all (almost)! Even from the airport, to the homes, to the bill boards, everyone is in love with basketball and not just football (UK learn! Stop converting our basketball courts to football pitches!) !  One more thing though, the TV stations (most) have one soap going on after the other! (too many shows, episodes, sigh…),  where is the mental space to absorb reality and not fantasy?
I went for an open mic event downtown Atlanta with my fiancé and  to say that black Americans are vocally vocal with their words doesn't do justice with the talent shown on the stage that day. I was inspired by talent because when someone describes a word with words you have never heard, all you have to do is sigh and sigh again.
There is so much I am absorbing, learning and definitely tapping into new experiences. To say am having a blast is an understatement and I refuse to do any count down and if you ask me what the date is today, I refuse to tell you! LOL
I do already have a proposed plan for activities in store upon my return and I would be sharing the excitement with you all as they unfold. Ranging from open mics, events to look forward to, new spoken word videos and as you know my personal musings and my inability to not stop myself from writing.

What I would like to share today is:

20 friends don’t play for 20 years (the realization of this, would take off pressure off any ‘out of the blues’ obligation from a friendly stranger.)

When you check any of your social media accounts via your phone, ensure you either lock the phone or keep it in an area where the key pads and your pocket would not collaborate on typing or sharing stuffs on your behalf.

A smile works wonders. They say music is the universal language, I just realized rather that ‘smile’ is the universal language.

Keep sowing.
Readiness is a state of mind and not convenience of your feelings, resources or when everything is standard temperature and pressure. It is of the mind.
Life is funny, laugh along with it and though some life-players around you might not share your same sense of humor, you just need one or maybe two laugh-er (s)...:)
Keep God not just in your center but as your center.

x
