What did the Nigerian say to the Pakistani?

As I sat down in the bus on my way to church, I dug my hand inside my big bag and was shocked I could not find a pen. Strange. I like to refer to myself as the pen lover.

I looked around and wondered who would give me a pen to edit this poem I was going  to use as an audition for an upcoming event. I looked to my left I saw the streets and to my right, were two ladies. My immediate right was a lady with a hijab, and I knew she was from Pakistan and next to her was an older Indian lady reading some Hindu book. (Don’t ask me how I knew where they were from, I just know!)

I tapped the Pakistani pretty looking girl who had ear phones on and I asked her’ Do you have a pen?’ she replied ‘I do not think so, but let me check’ and I smiled. The Indian lady shouted above the noise of the bus and said I have a pen! As she put her hand inside her bag and stretched the pen across the Indian border through Pakistani Oceans to the Nigerian rivers. And again I smiled as I took the pen.

I momentarily forgot what I wanted to edit in my poem as I reflected on what just happened.

I just crossed the walls of culture, religion, skin colour and racial heritage.

If only everyone was as open as that; if only I don’t need to ask for peace, you just offer it to me without the thought of war. If only, we remember that clothes were made to cover nakedness and we are made of the same red blood and ‘green veins’ and there was no need to discriminate. If only our mind has not been carved to see differences at just one look at someone else other than us.

Romans 12 vs. 18- If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all (English Standard Version)
Does that mean we do not live at peace with others because we are not at peace with ourselves? ‘Emphasis on ‘So far as it depends on you’.

Hebrews 12 vs. 14- Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.(New Living Translation)
Work, meaning it is a verb, meaning it is an action word, it is something we have to be involved in. it is then obvious that even the words of the Gospel understand our fleshy mindful obstructions that it expects us to work through it and live with everyone.

We have influenced the status of clothes, and what others wear outside, we use to define them. In as much as she wore a Hijab and her beliefs are different from mine, it didn’t stop her from putting her hand into that bag just for the hope of giving me a pen. In as much as she was holding a Hindu book and I had my bible in my bag, it didn’t stop the Indian lady from offering me her pen without me asking for one.

Let us think on this. If I could cross borders with a question, how much can you touch borders with your kindness, your work of peace, and your words of hope?

Just Do It.

I remember when I used to fill all the forms by employers and the part that asks the question’ what is your hobby?’ and I see my hands writing ‘Thinking’. It sounded so smart back then and in fact it is really something that I do. #don’t blame the first child of five, it comes natural to me#.

As I have managed to grow one white hair, I realise that thinking might seem smart but doing is way smarter. I had and still have so many great thinkers as friends and with my white hair, I am beginning to see the difference between those who have so many papers with ideas (just as myself) and those working through those papers (fingers crossed).

In the Beginning, God said, it is not good for man to be alone; we need to create him a help mate. He spoke it loud, and did not wait for the board of directors to sit on it, or His friend(s) to approve, He did not wait unending for the perfect timing neither did He go around thinking up one million and one ideas. He said it, had the creative plan in His mind, waited for the opportunity and executed. It was so perfect that even Man himself acknowledged that this beautiful creature called Woman was taken from his ribs! (Gen 2 vs. 18- 24).

They say it takes about 20 seconds to remember something and therefore it is very important to document them. So much emphasis is on writing the vision down but what about making it plain? Making it plain means doing your research, going to the drawing board, breaking it down and meditating on it. What about let him that run that readeth it? People running with it means you have gone beyond that paper and are now executing it in motion. (Habakkuk 2 vs. 2)

So many ideas are created and buried in a piece of paper. We are making the step of thinking and wanting to make the difference but think about it, the only difference most of us have made is to the paper industry as we buy more to write more.
What are we afraid of? When was the last time we did something for the first time? Are we afraid of Failure? Are we afraid that our ideas sound ridiculous? Are we afraid that we might not be able to handle all this? Are we afraid of our great our destiny  that we decide to settle for the average one we find ourselves in?

What right do you have to pass through this world just as an ordinary fella? If the ants can go about their business diligently, how about us? Take a look at the sky below, yet you have not heard of stars fighting to protect their space and that is because there is so much space for everyone above, and the reason why there would forever and ever be space up there is because of the fear to climb that ladder and know what above holds in store for us.

Nike slogan says, just Do it.

Just do it, even if you think you would be laughed at. Why? They would soon be laughing with you. Just do it, even if you think there is no provision yet. Why? Because if it is a God given vision, there is a God given provision available. Just do it, even if you are not sure of the results. Why? At least there would be a result and either way it turns out you would be one step wiser.

Let’s do it. Why? We have no right to be ordinary in this world. Look at you, you are definitely not ordinary!

Who do you think you are? Who do you really think you are?

My title is the response one gets when they have bitten more than they can chew or swallowed more than they can digest. As I walked down the subway early this morning , I imagined the wall to be people by the side watching me, as I took my steps through the subway coarsed  path; Something happened.

In a twinkle of an eye, I turned from the girl with the black gown with a white, shiny belt, wearing a pair of pumps and carrying a hand bag with a packed lunch to the lady with the dress accessorised with the crystal studded belt, wearing a pair of coffee brown pumps, a gift from a special one and a black bag designed by Tignanello. I saw all the invisible people by the side wanting to be like me, to have just one tea spoon of what I have in abundance. When the walls came to an end, my 10 seconds or less show of run way kind of ended with it. I was back to the black girl, with the black dress, belt, pumps, and a bag.

If objects can stick to their identity, how much more we creations of the most high God. When someone uses a pencil as an ear cleaner, you don’t see the pencil going into rehab for self-identity crisis! When we use a pair of heels as a can opener, the one who looks stupid at the end is the human being.  We don’t use tooth paste as body cream or body cream as tooth paste. Their names say it all.

What is your name?  When you find out, stick to it.

Who am I? Without going into much details, as there would definitely be a part 2 of this piece; I am the Daughter of God. I am a living divine destiny; created for a reason (What is it? I would recommend you buy a Bible to find out); designed with a heavenly purpose in mind (If you have your Bible now, check, Genesis 1 vs 26-27).

If I live less than my title, who is to blame? If I allow my conditions to determine when I live true to my name, whose fault is it ? Should I wait for the cheer before I become cheerful? Should I wait for the runway before I walk with heads held high and divine class? Am I good representative of my maker?

To conclude, this verse comes to my mind- "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
Jerimiah 1 vs 5- " (NIV)

My Lesson for this morning:
I should not be subject to my environment; in fact what would happen is the environment would be confused as to whom really am I? Even the environment itself likes consistency. How much God who created me with so much divinity surrounding him and he need no help to input in me His DNA with all things I would ever need and want ingrained in it.

Be consistent. When you know who you are, you will understand what you carry inside you and realise that you really are Royalty. Do your Heavenly Father proud.
